Ken Sakamoto is the Head Artist at Hermosa Ink Collective, with over 25 years of tattooing experience and a strong foundation in fine art. Raised in Japan, he spent 15 years tattooing in Tokyo’s Shinjuku and Shibuya districts and has more than a decade of tattooing experience in Los Angeles.

His work draws on Japanese art and culture, an understanding of Western painting, and continued study of tattoo techniques and equipment. He also continues to take oil painting classes, refining his understanding of composition, proportion, color, and light.

Specializing in Japanese tattooing and black and gray realism, Ken works across a wide range of styles, including color tattoos and fine line designs. He welcomes cover-ups and complex projects that call for careful planning, technical skill, and creative problem-solving.

With a friendly, patient approach, Ken works closely with each client to develop original artwork suited to their ideas and the natural contours of their body. Based in Hermosa Beach, he welcomes clients from the South Bay and greater Los Angeles area.
